We also put up Sternberg street lights and a hot tub and basketball court on the property, along with a shuffleboard court, pickleball court, and horseshoe pit. Every cabin has been enhanced with electrical, heating, decks, Wi-Fi, cable TV, western furniture, new appliances. Pine Haven has been an Estes Park lodging favorite since 1953 and, indeed, we have poured into it all the amenities 21st century travelers would want. We have been the proud owners of Pine Haven since 2004. All of our guests collectively have enriched our lives. We have stayed in many cabins on national park trips and expected more for this price.ĭear Pine Haven Guest, Thank you for staying at Pine Haven. However, I think it's important that TA users get an honest idea of what they're getting - or not getting - with this property. I think the problem is that people who stay here want to post a nice review, because the owners are so nice and the outdoor setting is very pretty. We spent about $235 a night for this cabin, expecting it to be charming, based on TA reviews. There were just two of us, and we wound up eating breakfast in our laps. And although there are three beds in the loft, there is no way that many people could realistically function in such a small space. There is a table in the bedroom, but you would have to lift it up and carry it to the living area, and there isn't space there to really place it anywhere. There isn't a place for two people to share a meal, except outside on the deck (which is actually very nice). Some will find that charming, but others will find it claustrophobic and a nuisance when you can't find a place to put your own things. There are vintage knick-knacks everywhere. The woodburning fireplace is so close to the furniture that I wouldn't want to build a fire in it. There was also a TV mounted at an angle, which looked like it could fall any minute. If anyone is sleeping upstairs and they move at all during the night, they will wake the folks downstairs, just because of the creaky, unstable flooring. I was wary of leaving any lights on, due to all that funky wiring. (And I am not a large person.) There are extension cords that run along the floor to connect the lamps, which I don't think meets fire code. The steps to the loft are very rickety, and the upstairs flooring is so creaky that I was fearful it would give way. Here's why: The cabin itself doesn't feel safe. However, our stay in the Daniel Boone cabin was disappointing. I wish I could recommend this group of cabins, as the owners are very nice people, the location is excellent and the outdoor areas are very nice. ![]()
