Sometimes, when I'm working on projects at home, I would dream about using WebStorm, but then I would realize that I didn't really need all those features for small, personal projects. Maybe there are plugins like this for Sublime Text, but I haven't really looked into them yet. That really saves me with checking for scope and coding best practices. My favorite is the auto-complete and checking for JavaScript. WebStorm is pretty bloated and has a lot of great features. I like Sublime Text in general and I'll continue to use it for personal projects. I've been using Sublime Text 2 for a while now and just recently switched to Sublime Text 3. I use WebStorm at work because my company paid for it and because I have a really complicated build environment that WebStorm can handle with some scripts and key mappings. I'm actually currently using both right now. I'd definitely try both but, in my opinion, IDEs are too bulky and unintuitive whereas ST2 is just clean and fast. WebStorm seems like overkill since HTML/CSS/JS are somewhat straight forward but I've used P圜harm before and it really helped me learn the language. That said, I definitely see the value in an IDE especially when I'm not 100% familiar with the language. Personally, I prefer ST2 because I know what I'm doing and don't need the training wheels to confuse me. The keyboard shortcuts and customizing everything to your preferences are really intuitive. Text editors like Sublime Text are great because they're really fast and there's a plugin for just about everything you can imagine. They also have great code hinting/autocomplete. They can do things like if you change a function name in one file, it will sift through your entire project and change the function's references everywhere. IDEs like WebStorm are bulkier and require a lot of experience to get really efficient with, but once you're good at them they're very powerful. I've used pretty much every IDE and text editor out there.
